This 4×4 Driving training course is designed for individuals who own or operate 4×4 vehicles and wish to develop the skills necessary to navigate challenging off-road terrain safely and confidently. Driving off-road presents unique challenges, including rough terrain, steep inclines, and unpredictable obstacles. This course combines theoretical instruction with practical hands-on experience to prepare participants for real-world off-road driving scenarios.

Course content 

  • Understanding 4×4 vehicle systems and capabilities

  • Pre-trip inspections and preparation for off-road driving

  • Basic vehicle recovery techniques and tools

  • Navigating different terrains, including sand, mud, gravel, and rocks

  • Proper use of gears, differential locks, and tire pressure adjustments

  • Managing inclines, descents, and side slopes safely

  • Reading terrain and planning safe driving routes

  • Techniques for avoiding damage to the vehicle and environment

  • Emergency response and safety protocols during off-road activities

  • Essential off-road equipment and its proper use

Requirements

To participate in the Dangerous Goods training course, delegates must meet the following requirements:Be at least 18 years of age.Hold a valid South African Identity Document or Passport.Have a basic understanding of the training language to effectively follow instructions and engage with course material.Possess basic literacy and communication skills to participate in discussions and complete assessments.All course materials, including manuals and reference documents, will be provided. Delegates are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen for personal notes.

Participants should wear professional or comfortable attire suitable for classroom-based activities. Full attendance throughout the course is mandatory to qualify for certification. A minimum of 10 participants per session is accommodated to ensure personalized instruction and meaningful engagement.
